Journey to Healing
Suicide Postvention to Support Aboriginal Youth
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24, and five to seven times higher in Aboriginal Communities.
To help reduce the rate of suicide in Aboriginal communities in BC, the Journey to Healing: Suicide Postvention to Support Aboriginal Youth (JTH) project trains professionals to work with youth following a suicide, or significant suicide attempt in their community, to help reduce adverse mental health effects and prevent further suicides (suicide postvention).
The program is made possible by a Community Action Initiative grant funded by Community Mental Health BC Division.
